Instead of being permanently connected to one workstation, the extraction unit can be moved around the workshop and positioned where it’s needed. This can be particularly valuable in fabrication, maintenance and industrial environments where the job doesn’t always come to the workstation. Portable systems may incorporate an extraction arm, filtration system and fan within a single mobile unit, allowing one extractor to potentially service several areas.
When Is Portable Extraction the Better Choice?
Portable extraction becomes particularly useful when jobs regularly move around the workshop, extraction is only required occasionally at certain workstations, workshop layouts change frequently, maintenance is performed on large or difficult-to-move equipment, installing permanent ductwork isn’t practical and one extraction unit needs to service several work areas.
