HVLS Fans Deliver Year-Round Comfort for the Dragons’ New High-Performance Centre
Client Overview
The St George Illawarra Dragons’ Community and High Performance Centre (Bruce Gordon Centre) at the University of Wollongong’s Innovation Campus is a purpose-built home for the Club’s NRL and NRLW programs, bringing elite training, medical and recovery facilities together under one roof. With large open training spaces and high ceilings, maintaining consistent, comfortable air quality for athletes training year-round was a key design consideration.
The Challenge
Facilities of this scale are prone to heat build-up and stagnant air, particularly in high-ceiling training areas used daily by elite athletes. The Dragons needed a solution that could move large volumes of air quietly and efficiently, without disrupting training sessions or driving up energy costs.
The Fanmaster Solution
Fanmaster supplied and installed two 7.3m HVLS fans, sized to suit the facility’s large-format training space. The fans deliver consistent, low-speed airflow across the full floor area, keeping conditions comfortable for athletes and staff while running quietly enough not to interfere with coaching or training instruction.
The Result
Since installation, the Centre has benefited from noticeably improved air movement and a more comfortable training environment year-round, with minimal ongoing maintenance and low running costs compared to mechanical alternatives.
